tv and film.

ive been doing alot of tv and movie watching (well given that it IS summer and i have nothing else to do), and i say, they sure are airing alot of crap amidst some gold coins. here are what ive seen so far; they are not neccessarily crap, although some of them are haha (these are not reviews; just mere "opinions" haha):

jack tv (nice new channel)
meet the geeks - gameshow where contestants square-off against pop trivia "geeks", topics ranging from comic books to movies. nice. the first-round questions are stupidly too easy though.

insomniac with dave attell - comedian goes around new york late after midnight, crashing parties, strip clubs, s&m bars, and anything that goes bump in the night. funny, but some parts of his dialogue are too well-written to be improvised.

the man show - half-naked girls ("and now, girls jumping on a trampoline!"), beer, more beer, more bikini-clad women. `nuff said. christ. hindi sa pagmamalinis, but this show is weak. host jimmy kimmel should stick to his late night show. it does have some funny skits though.

etc.
veronica mars - a not so bad nancy drew-esque teen drama. plus, kristen bell is bloody hot. she got me hooked.

one tree hill - basketball meets dawson's creek. i watch it. haha.

studio 23
gilmore girls - ive been watching this since season one. witty dialogue, too witty in fact, but hey, its tv world! anything is possible!

the batman (animated) - bruce is just so effing...happy! apparently, the writers had the teen titans audience in mind.

justice league unlimited (animated) - wow.

movies
XXX 2: the next level/state of the union - ice cube is going to save the president of the united states. and i thought the first one (with vin diesel) was ridiculous (actually, diesel's was much better than this one). from the get-go, the story is bleak; and no amount of explosions could ever cover that. im sorry, but i had more laughs in this one than when im watching any chris kattan's skits on snl. lame, but it was ok though, because jerome paid for my ticket haha. i had a good time - laughing. thats probably the reason its making a killing in the theatres.

kingdom of heaven - the problem with war movies much like this, it cant help but be compared with any of the lotr movies. peter jackson created and did everything there is to shoot (?) in epic battle scenes, and it wont be that easy to topple that. here, however, ridley scott did what he did in gladiator, and apparently made it work. however, like most of his films, this lacked coherent narrative. tons of storyline gaps between scenes, parang "o, baket ganun?" na lang ang masasabi mo. plus, im not quite sure if some of the more "historical" characters were portrayed accurately.

mean girls - saw this on dvd, and i find it sincerely hilarious. nakakatawa to pre. tina fey screenplayed this one well, unlike most of her skits in snl as of late (but she is the head writer of the show). yael sums this one up as a "smart, smart film which exposes the complex and dog-eat-dog (or bitch-eat-bitch) social strata that teenage girls face everyday in suburban america". i have to agree. oh, and lindsay lohan topbills this one. teeheehee.

a walk to remember - hbo. i actually saw this the other year. aside from the technical nitpicking, its nice. yun lang. haha.

movies to see:
sin city - watch the trailers. you'll see why.
batman begins - after schumacher screwing up last 2, its time to have a decent batman film.
star wars episode III - why the hell not?!
mr. and mrs. smith - angelina jolie.

christ. i sound like one of them sanctimonious pricks who write online reviews (which are half of the time bad, the other half very bad) and think they goddamn know everything. for that, i apologize. haha. to anyone reading this and gets offended, please dont get mad. im a good boy. write your own opinions on your own blogs. haha.

im a stranger who just happened to read your post. hehe.

one tree hill: i used to hate it because of the cyclical plot. it gets tiring at times.. but then it would sometimes surprise you with an über kilig scene.

gilmore girls: its nice. i have to agree.. it can be too witty.

the batman: im a huge fan of this nocturnal superhero.. but i liked the darker versions. (there are so many versions, i cant keep up anymore.)

    justice league unlimited: yeeees. wow.

mean girls: true, true. i agree with yael's comment, too. but then again.. after the movie, you just have to admit.. "nakakabobo". girls can be shallow sometimes.. especially those kind. (although i am guilty of laughing at linday's character's demise. hehe.)

a walk to remember: i condemned myself for being single after watching the movie. i wonder if i'll have the same effect after reading the book.

and yeah.. i look forward to seeing the movies you mentioned.. just not starwars. (for the simple reason: i have not watched any starwars movie yet. so.. i wouldnt know the story.. heehee.)

its not wrong to write your reviews.. im guilty of doing the same, so i should speak. haha. i dunno about them, but i sure hell am not offended.. not one bit. :)

    great reviews by the way.

    a fan,

hello, nanie.euphoria. thanks for leaving a note.

this was an outright act or boredom, haha. summer breeds lots of it, especially if you dont have money, haha.

oh, and please do watch episode 3. i wont go into details, but its okay. sin city opens on june 1, batman finally begins on june 15. enjoy.
