i know the proverbial nostalgia-ridden entry after four years of college seems too early as of the moment but...
today was supposed to be my final schoolday friday (after 16 looooong years; trueblue `to, bro!) in the great academic institution known as the ateneo de manila university, and classes got suspended. and to think, as an undergrad, i wished classes were cancelled everyday.
kung kelan di mo hinahanap, saka lilitaw.
nagkakagulo na ang pilipinas, at ito pa rin ang inaatupag ko.
i got a text from a friend after an official school announcement was made:
"may coup daw a. dota tayo."
and that we did, spending our last "classes-got-suspended-today-holiday" on dota.
kung kelan di mo hinahanap. saka lilitaw.
people youve seen, even in glimpses, for the past four years will in all probability disappear forever. there will be things left undone, unspoken, and will now remain stagnant for all eternia.
ironic, how this "freedom" from the bindings of the academe was the holy grail in the months before today, but once achieved, you would want to go through the entire process all over again.
kung kelan di mo hinahanap, saka lilitaw.

my thesis adviser wants me to write another five pages for my thesis, about the troubles of adaptation and irony. so far, all that ive come up with are two, and im stuck. one and a half, to be precise.
how do i expound on something which i can explain in two (physical) pages? man. and once again, im here bitching about it when i should be squeezing my brain and cracking my skull for answers. ang saya.

it has been one week since the ultra stampede, and my prayers still go out to all the victims and the relatives. its a shame what the common filipino has succumb to -- waiting in line for almost three days without any proper nourishment and sanitation just to get a chance on getting first dibs on a ticket stub, which in turn is another gamble to get easy cash. a priest celebrating mass at ultra days after the stampede was right in his homily -- "nawala ang ideya ng kapamilya; lahat para sa pera". who could blame them? crap. the stampede happened a day after another 2% was added on the existing 10% e-vat was approved. with prices of basic necessities on the rise and majority of filipinos everywhere members of the low-income working class, who wouldnt risk not eating/bathing for an oppurtunity to win cash, dollars even? sad, aint it?
whats worse is that it couldve been prevented. i wont enumerate and go into lengthy detail and run the risk of being tagged a pompous "know-it-all" -- read the the papers and see what i mean.
again, the victims and their families are in my prayers every night. i hope you include them too. its the least we could do, being of the same skin and tongue.
